Responsibilities
- Design and implement novel quantum algorithms for optimization, cryptography, and machine learning applications
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to prototype quantum processors operating at error-corrected thresholds
- Lead cross-functional research initiatives in quantum error correction and fault-tolerant architectures
- Publish breakthrough findings in top-tier journals and present at international conferences
- Secure $1M+ in research funding through NSF, DARPA, and private sector partnerships
- Mentor PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers in quantum information science
- Develop quantum software development kits (SDKs) for enterprise adoption
Qualifications
- PhD in Quantum Computing, Physics, Computer Science, or related field with 3+ years postdoctoral experience
- Proven track record of publishing in Nature/Science or equivalent tier journals
- Expertise in quantum algorithm design (Shor's, Grover's, VQE, QAOA) and quantum circuit optimization
- Proficiency with quantum programming frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, Q#) and high-performance computing
- Demonstrated ability to secure government research grants
- Experience with superconducting or photonic quantum hardware platforms
- Strong background in quantum error correction codes (surface, LDPC, color codes)
- Exceptional problem-solving skills for NP-hard computational challenges
