Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Administrator to join a dynamic team in New York City. This is a contract position with a critical night shift schedule (10:00 PM - 6:00 AM), offering a competitive hourly rate for an experienced professional.
In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of our critical infrastructure, ensuring 24/7 operational excellence and system security.
Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Monitor server health and performance, ensuring 99.99% uptime during night shift operations.
- Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain security protocols to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.
- System Updates: Execute scheduled patch management, software installations, and hardware upgrades.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues affecting system availability and user productivity.
- Automation: Develop and maintain shell scripts and automation tools to streamline daily operational tasks.
- Backup & Recovery: Oversee nightly backup processes and verify data integrity and recovery procedures.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in Systems Administration or Network Engineering.
- Environment: Strong proficiency in Linux (RHEL/CentOS) and Windows Server environments.
- Scripting: Advanced knowledge of Bash, PowerShell, or Python for automation.
- Cloud: Familiarity with AWS or Azure cloud services is highly desirable.
- Availability: Must be willing and able to work a consistent night shift schedule.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
