Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our growing IT team for a lucrative contract opportunity in San Diego. This is a critical role requiring a dedicated professional to manage and optimize our network infrastructure during the night shift to ensure maximum uptime and security.
As part of our technical staff, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of network operations, from design to maintenance. We offer a competitive hourly rate and a collaborative environment for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and troubleshoot complex network architectures and hardware.
- Monitor network performance, traffic, and security alerts during off-peak hours.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of critical systems with zero downtime.
- Perform regular patch management, system updates, and security hardening.
- Collaborate with the day shift team to resolve escalations and hand over critical status reports.
- Document network configurations, changes, and incident reports according to ITIL standards.
- Respond to and resolve network incidents and outages with minimal delay.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering and infrastructure management.
- Valid Cisco CCNP or CCIE certification preferred.
- Strong experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
- Must be available and willing to work rotating night shifts (e.g., 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
