About the Role: You'll transform complex requirements into user-centric designs through wireframing, prototyping, and iterative testing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with brand guidelines and accessibility standards. This 20-hour/week contract runs through December 2024 with potential for extension.
Responsibilities
- Design responsive UI interfaces for web and mobile applications using Figma
- Conduct user research sessions and create journey maps to identify pain points
- Develop interactive prototypes for stakeholder feedback and usability testing
- Collaborate with developers to ensure design implementation fidelity
- Maintain and evolve design systems for consistent user experience
- Present design solutions to clients with clear rationale and business impact
- Adhere to Section 508 accessibility standards for federal projects
Qualifications
- 3+ years of UX/UI design experience with portfolio showcasing government/NGO projects
- Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools
- Strong understanding of design systems and component libraries
- Experience with user testing methodologies (A/B testing, surveys, moderated sessions)
- Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 accessibility guidelines
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills for client-facing presentations
- Relevant bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or related field
